INT. BEDROOM – NIGHT
CLAYTON, a man in his late twenties, rests his back up against the pillows and catches his breath. His wife, AMANDA, also in her late twenties, lies next to him with her hair draped across the pillow.
I hope we stay like this forever. Just you and me, two beautiful people making sweet sweet love.
Me too. But you know that’s foolish. We have to enjoy it while it lasts.
INT. BEDROOM – MORNING
The sunlight is filtering in through the curtains. Amanda is facing the outside of the bed. Clayton wakes up and rolls over to kiss Amanda’s neck. It’s still dark but Clayton can tell something isn’t right. Amanda’s hair has turned grey. Amanda wriggles in response to the kiss, and turns over, and smiles sweetly at Clayton. She reaches in to kiss him. Clayton jerks back and jumps out of bed in his underwear and has an utter look of horror on his face.
We see Amanda has aged fifty years overnight. She looks seventy. But it is the same Amanda.
Who the fuck are you?
I’m your naughty school girl.
Shit, shit! Amanda?
Amanda senses the worry in Clayton’s voice.
Yes, what’s wrong?
You’re… You’re face.
Amanda puts a hand to her face and feels the wrinkles. She tears away her hand. Amanda rips off the duvet and examines her body. She looks under her pyjama top and starts hyperventilating. This causes her to cough.
Who are you going to call? This isn’t real right. This is just some fucked up nightmare.
I don’t know, your doctor?
Amanda glares at Clayton.
This is your fault you know. Talking about living young forever before we went to bed.
Okay, it’s time to wake up now Amanda.
Amanda closes her eyes and tightens her fists to bring her back to reality. It doesn’t work. Clayton is on the phone with the hospital.
EXT. HOUSE – MORNING
An ambulance pulls up outside the house. The DRIVER and MEDIC hop out. The Driver opens the back of the ambulance and pulls out a stretcher.
The Medic knocks and opens the front door to the house.
Clayton, now dressed, is helping Amanda down the stairs.
We can bring the stretcher up to you.
The Driver and Medic take both ends of the stretcher and bring it inside.
It’s okay. We’ll meet you at the bottom.
Clayton and Amanda slowly walk down the stairs. Amanda clutches the handrail in one hand and Clayton in the other.
What is the emergency? Did she fall? Is it heart or lung trouble?
We can see that. What happened to her? Why did you call an ambulance?
Clayton arrives at the bottom of the stairs with Amanda.
No you don’t get it. She’s twenty-seven.
Sir, you’re delirious. C’mon, let’s get your grandmother in the van.
She’s not my grandmother. She’s my girlfriend!
The Driver and Medic share a He’s-Kidding-Right-look.
